2017/2018 Successful Candidates

We are pleased to announce our class of 2017/2018 interns, who will be joining the Grant Property team from September 2017. These students from universities across Scotland excelled in the three stage application process, so stay tuned to see what our interns get up to over the year!

Cameron Anderson - Dundee University

I am a 22 year old from Edinburgh, currently studying Financial Economics at the University of Dundee. I am an avid sportsman, musician and cook who plans on a career in Finance and Asset Management. As a previous tenant of Grant Property I was keen to see the way in which they operated as a business and managed their clients investments. Having heard many positive things from friends who had previously undertaken successful internships with Grant Property, and had had great opportunities, I wanted to join them in further developing my interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.

Cristina Lupu - Strathclyde University

Originally from Romania, I came to Scotland in 2012 to start my undergraduate degree at University of Strathclyde. With a strong belief that theory and practice go hand in hand I decided to take a year out between my 3rd and 4th year. During this period I worked for two brilliant companies and confirmed my passion for the properties industry. The placement offered by Grant Property came as the ‘cherry on top of the cake’ and I look forward to helping them provide the best opportunities to investors and tenants alike.

Lauren Smith - Heriot Watt

I’m a third year student at Heriot Watt University studying International Business Management with Marketing. I’m from Edinburgh and went to The Mary Erskine School where I studied Business Management through to Advanced Higher. My passions are Business, Tennis and Travelling, so between school and university I spent a year studying business at The University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business in Vancouver. During my time in Vancouver I travelled through British Columbia, Alberta and Alaska. In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis and serve on the committee of Heriot Watt’s Tennis Club as President. This coming year my flatmates and I are living in one of Grant Property’s flats, and it was through the flat searching process that I learnt about The Grant Property Internship. I believe The Grant Property Internship presents a unique opportunity for interns to gain first-hand experience in a leading property investment and management company and I am excited to get started in September!

Antonio Victoria - Edinburgh University

I was born in Spain’s capital city, Madrid, in 1997 and  attended the European School of Brussels The school gave me an amazing international experience, as I was often in contact with people from more than 10 different nationalities, and as we progressed into the higher years we had a few common classes with people from different sections, such as Geography, History or P.E., which were thought in our second language (Either French, English or German). Furthermore, being part of the European School of Brussels Swimming Team for more than 6 years gave me the opportunity to make many friends outside my class, mixing with people from all the European Schools in Brussels.
After I graduated, I joined the University of Edinburgh, to study Electronics and Electrical Engineering. I am now in my second year and looking forward to my next fresher’s week.

Steven Thomson - Edinburgh University

I’m from Livingston and I’m currently studying at the University of Edinburgh for my degree in Immunology. My motivation to join the property industry started when I began spending a lot of my time in Edinburgh during my studies. I began to realise the many exciting, yet untapped, real estate opportunities within the city and decided that a career in real estate was for me. I discovered Grant Property when I was assisting a friend to find a flat within Edinburgh. I was extremely impressed by the professionalism shown by Grant and the high standards they adopt when dealing with their clients’ properties; so, when I heard Grant were looking for interns, I wasted no time in applying.
Aside from my interests in real estate, I enjoy spending much of my free time outdoors and exploring new areas. Some of my hobbies include hillwalking, kayaking and rock-climbing. I was a member of the Air Training Corps for a few years which allowed me to fulfil many of these hobbies.
I’m extremely excited to be starting my internship at Grant Property and look forward to the challenges ahead.

Julie Papouskova - Heriot Watt

Julie Papouskova is a student at Heriot-Watt University. Pursuing her passion of discovering great cities around the world, she moved from Prague to Edinburgh to study Urban planning and Property development. As a speaker of four languages, she strongly believes in the importance of communication and is interested in increasing stakeholder engagement in urbanism and other areas of the built environment. For the last two years, she has been facilitating cooperation between her fellow students and the university as a class representative. In the past, she has also contributed to the Heriot-Watt community as a part of the Drama society, allowing her to express appreciation for the arts through having participated in productions, as well as having been on its committee as treasurer. Currently, she serves on the TEDx society committee as finance director and is involved in preparations for upcoming events in the next academic year. As well as entering her penultimate year at university this September, she is most looking forward to starting the internship at Grant Property.

Miranda Andreetti - Strathclyde University

I grew up and went to school in Edinburgh, and this year I completed my first year at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. I’m currently studying International Business with Economics. Before attending university, I took a year out and completed a modern apprenticeship with an Investment Management company. My year out of full time education was a great learning curve and I gained lots of valuable work experience. This encouraged me to apply for the Grant Property internship as I enthusiastic to develop my skills and learn about the property industry.

Our future plans for the Grant Property Student Board are another example of our belief that Young People are an important asset for our future. Young People are given opportunities within our company to learn and progress on their career paths, gaining vital experience along the way and therefore assisting in realising their full potential. Their support is a priority to our company, as are their personal journeys. Testimonials

Interning during the summer of 2015 at Grant Property was a thoroughly enjoyable and informative experience into the world of business. Working alongside the different teams and getting first hand experience of the requirements of maintaining a successful business was fascinating. Grant Property were excellent at setting up opportunities to meet with social media/marketing companies to learn more about the commercial aspect of the business as well as involving me in the day to day work. Because of this experience, I am looking forward to being more engaged in business and entrepreneurship in the future.
Raeesa Ijaz
Grant Property was a warm and welcome place to work. Not only were my coworkers very friendly, but the internship gave me a huge range of opportunities to develop my professional skills. The internship wasn't just confined to the office, our boss Paula made sure that our learning was expanded with "away days", which had us visit other businesses associated with Grant Property all over Scotland.
